- Cherry Lane Music Publishing and Electronic Arts are teaming up to create the Next Level Music publishing company, aiming to sign establish as well as new artists, acquire publishing catalogs, produce original music "and further develop EA's rich catalogue of music".
EA will handle promotions, "through its games" while Cherry Lane deals with compositions and master recordings worldwide, say the companies, going on:
"Under the exclusive co-publishing partnership, the company will also license EA's existing music assets to commercials, films, film trailers, ring-tones and other commercial media."
Cherry Lane artists include The Black Eyed Peas, John Denver, Tom Paxton and Elvis Presley and Jim Griffin, who for five years ran Geffen Records' technology department, now runs Cherry Lane Digital.
