Google China book search
Jun 08, 2006

Google.com has launched a book search "partnership" program in China.

"Tsinghua University Publishing House and Juvenile and Children Publishing House have become its first batch of partners for the program," says ChinaTechNews.

It's free to publishing houses, printing institutions and individual writers and manager Chen Yuhua promises authors won't have to worry about "copyrights being violated with Google's technology support".

The service is currently in English only but, "Kai-Fu Lee, president of Google China, says that his company will soon launch a Chinese interface book search," adds the story.

ChinaTechNews doesn't say if searches will be censored in any way.
