The MPA's (Motion Picture Association) desperately needs a Sleuth who can:
Conduct and coordinate investigations worldwide on piracy cases occurring via the Internet, including peer-to-peer, auctions, e-commerce sites, and others
Work closely with [real] law enforcement agencies on the investigation and prosecution of Internet piracy cases
Provide training to in-house and outside investigators on Internet piracy
Conducting LAN and WAN audits in support of film security efforts
That's the job description.
This paragon's designation would be Full-time Internet Investigations Manager and he/she would work in the MPA's Worldwide Internet Enforcement department in Encino, California and said pseudo-cop will be "primarily responsible for investigation, tracking, and reporting on Internet piracy cases occurring around the globe".
Responsibilities would include:
Conducting and coordinating investigations worldwide on piracy cases occurring via the Internet, including peer-to-peer, auctions, e-commerce sites, and others.
Working closely with law enforcement agencies on the investigation and prosecution of Internet piracy cases.
Providing training to in-house and outside investigators on Internet piracy.
Conducting LAN and WAN audits in support of film security efforts.
Skills and qualifications needed:
Experience as a law enforcement officer, or equivalent experience conducting investigations in the private sector, required.
Experience in conducting and directing investigations of Internet activities, such as criminal violations committed via intrusions, web hosting and programming, IRC transmissions, Usenet postings, FTP site operation, peer-to-peer systems, and e-mail.
Extensive understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, WHOIS, NAT, and basic Internet protocols.
Direct experience investigating illegal Internet distribution of graphical or audiovisual material preferred.
Understanding of peer-to-peer systems and applications preferred.
Extensive understanding of Windows OS and applications; familiarity with Linux, UNIX, or other operating systems preferred.
Functional understanding of federal computer crime statutes, privacy laws, and Title III preferred.
Familiarity with copyright law and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) preferred.
Experience in evaluating and implementing LAN and WAN security.
Excellent written and oral communications skills required.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills required.
Management experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
