It's all YOUR fault, all you file sharing pirates, that movies aren't making the obscenely rich Big Six studios even richer.

So says Hollywood's MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) in one disingenuous reality spin after another.

Could it be something else, perhaps? Sticky cinema floors? Ushers with night vision goggles "arresting" patrons suspected of wielding camcorders? Ridiculous over-charging for a bag of popcorn and a cup of pop? Exorbitant admission prices?

Or even, dare we say it, bad movies?

Warner Bros, "which looked like it couldn't buy a hit for much of last year," reported a revenue drop of more than 10% over 2005, says IMDb, quoting Time Warner's SEC filing.

"After such bombs as Poseidon, Lady in the Water, and the Ant Bully, not even hits like Happy Feet and The Departed late in the year could put the studio close to equaling its record earnings in 2005," says the story.

Record earning in 2005? Surely not? After all, the studios are being "devastated," a word used frequently not only by the MPAA but also brother spin organization the Recording Industry Association of America, by file sharers.

But not to worry. Time Warner still managed to report a 34% net gain for its fourth quarter, "due in large measure to the sale of AOL's businesses in France and the UK," says IMDb.
