Yahoo promises it's nailed Yamanner, the JavaScript worm which arrives buried in the email body and which activates automatically when someone merely opens an infected e-mail message with Internet Explorer.
Yahoo says only, "a very small fraction" of its more than 200 million e-mail accounts were infected, says the Associated Press. And Yamanner, "didn't affect" the next version of Yahoo's e-mail service, currently in beta.
"We have taken steps to resolve the issue and protect our users from further attacks of this worm," Yahoo spokeswoman Kelley Podboy is quoted as saying.
"The solution has been automatically distributed to all Yahoo Mail customers, and requires no additional action on the part of the user.''
